Glycerin is a colorless, sweet, viscous liquid formed as a byproduct in both cold and hot process soap manufacturing. glycerin is naturally formed during the saponification process (when lye and fatty oils chemically interact). Some soaps add additional glycerin to make the soap softer, and lather better.
