Soap making consists of mixing lye with water and fatty acids so that saponification can take place. Some soaps are made by blending the mixture at lower temperatures (cold process), others are made under added heat conditions (hot process). The liquid soap mixture is poured into molds to finish saponification (when applicable) and to cool into a hardened block of soap. After saponification is complete, and the soap has hardened and cooled, the soap is cut into bars and left to cure.
